What If the Democrats Had Picked Someone More Likable?

I can only imagine how much safer we would all feel

I can’t help it. I’m a wreck thinking about next November. I wake up at midnight and think, “Oh, my God! What if Trump wins and we end up living in a dictatorship?” A minute later I find myself thinking, “Oh, my God! What if Biden wins and the Trump people go into another violent rage?”

Dictatorship or civil war?

That’s how it feels to me lately.

I worry because I try to listen to both sides of most issues. I try not to stay in my progressive echo chamber. I read right-leaning papers and websites. I talk to my smart Republican friends and family. I read our community Facebook discussions.

And I see the bumper stickers and storefronts. I pass the groups of locals holding up Trump signs and Gadsden flags. I read the posts on social media, how people who support Trump declare their intention to “never back down”, to take our country back from the evil-liberals-who-hate-America, and how they are armed and ready to fight.

I was watching C-Span when the insurrection erupted on January 6th. I believe these people when they promise to fight.

So you can understand that when I look at President Biden’s incredibly anemic poll…
