William Shakespeare said it perfectly, at the very end of “Romeo and Juliet.” After the needless deaths of two young lovers and a crowd of other people involved in a terrible family feud, the Prince of Verona proclaims, “All are punished!”
All. Everyone is punished. Everyone is guilty. So why did he say that?
