Thinking About the Vaccine Resistant
The other day I was at my local hospital for a blood test. The lab tech expressed her worry about the rising Covid cases in our area. I made a snarky comment about the frustrating ignorance of the unvaxxed.
To my surprise, she responded by gently chiding me. “You are not a doctor, and you don’t know what people are experiencing. Please be careful not to judge those who chose differently than you did.”
I thought about her words and promised myself to be more understanding. But I couldn’t shake my anger at those who it seemed were putting me and my family at risk.
Yesterday I read an article in the Boston Globe by an ER doctor, William J. Boroughf. The good doctor wrote about the many reasons why people in the US continue to hesitate in getting the Covid vaccine. He wrote about the fact that most people are not trained as scientists and are often confused by scientific information.
Once again, I agreed with and admired the non-judgemental position taken by the author. I vowed to keep my mind more open. I told myself that I should try to look at things from another point of view.
