Meanwhile, in Gaza….

….the children still die

A year ago, the whole world was overwhelmed with horror when innocent citizens of Israel were murdered and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. We all cried out, we wept, we prayed for a return to peace and safety.

A year ago, the Israeli army retaliated for those horrors by inflicting a thousand more on the innocent citizens living within the confines of the Gaza Strip.

We were all appalled. We cried, we wept, we prayed for a return to peace and safety.

Students gathered on university campuses, carrying Palestinian flags. Those of us too old to march began to wear scarves with the Palestinian pattern. We went online and ordered Palestinian foods and soaps and jewelry to show our support.

Meanwhile, the children were dying. Israeli bombs were dropped on one city after another, on hospitals, and refugee camps, and schools and markets.

We were all so angry.

But life has gone on for the past year. As violence began to increase in the occupied West Bank, our attention shifted. We began to argue and pray and weep for the people there.

In Gaza, the children kept dying.

In the US the Presidential Election became more confusing and polarizing than any before it. Candidates dropped in and out…
