I watch my grandchildren five days a week so their parents can work. I follow all of their rules, and I do it for two reasons.

  1. They tell me what they want.
  2. They tell me what they want.

You need to either cough up the money to pay for a teenager, let go of your worry for one night a month, or be direct and honest and insist on what you need.

You also need to step back and ask what those Sat. nights mean to your parents. Do they feel like valued and loved members of your family, or do they feel like the “hired help”?
