I Can’t Wait to See What Doesn’t Happen on THIS January 6th
The comparison will be breathtaking
I was watching CSPAN on January 6th, 2021. I’m a nerd, I know, but I thought it would be interesting to see the moment when Donald Trump officially got the boot out of Washington. I saw a man enter the House Chamber, whisper something to Speaker Pelosi, and then escort her out of the room.
It wasn’t until the next speaker rose to be recognized and began with “Madame Speaker….uh….Mr. Speaker” that I realized something scary was going on. Where had Pelosi gone, and why?
I watched the next few hours in disbelief.
It was a violent attack on the center of the American government. It was terrifying. It was surreal. It was a historic attempt to overturn a legal election. It was Donald J. Trump attempting to pull off an insurrection right in front of our eyes.
I haven’t forgotten it, or how vulnerable it made me feel.
Now here we are, four years after that shocking event.
The people who carried out the attack, the ones who swung flag poles at the police, the ones who defecated in the office of the Speaker, the people who smashed windows, tore down barriers, and broke through doors, those people are determined to portray those crimes as a…
