Enjoying Those Hugs Whenever I Can Get Them

Oh, the tender love of a good dog

For the past week, I have been enjoying special time with my youngest child and his one-year-old daughter. My Daughter-in-Law was away at a conference and Tim needed to work. So I stayed with them to help with the baby.

I loved my time out there, but it was pretty stressful for my granddaughter. She is the happiest little bean most of the time, but boy howdy did she ever miss her mama! She is just beginning to talk, but she managed to yell “MAMA!” at the top of her lungs several times every day.

I was there when little Eliza and her Mama were reunited last evening. THAT was the ultimate experience of love, let me tell you. The squeals of joy, the hugs, the giggles and kisses and squeezes. It made me a little jealous, to be honest. I remember when I was that important to my babies.

So you can imagine my joy when I got home and was greeted with howls and kisses and frenetic jumps from my two dogs.

Now, this joyous doggie reaction is par for the course, as they say. If I go out to the mailbox and come back in 3 minutes, I get the same reaction. “Mama! Where WERE you?” The whirls and twirls and barks usually last about 2 minutes and then the dogs go back to sleep on the couch.
