Dueling Dementias

It’s time to take away the keys

Like pretty much every other American citizen, I am increasingly worried about our upcoming Presidential election. For some inexplicable reason, out of the 341 million humans living in this country, we have decided to focus our hopes for the future on two doddering old fools who probably need help putting on their own socks.

No matter how many polls show President Biden and former President Trump that nobody wants them in charge and most people dislike even the idea of having to choose between the two of them, they refuse to let go of the rusted, crumbling controls of government.

It’s like two old farts in a memory care unit trying to arm wrestle over the TV remote. Everyone around them knows they can’t successfully stream a movie, but nobody wants to upset them by taking the clicker away. Pitiful.

And so here we find ourselves. Forced into an election where it is only our fear of the other guy that motivates us to vote.

Both of these men are old. Well past the typical retirement age for professionals in any field. Both of them are showing signs of slowing down and getting forgetful. Trump’s language is becoming more disordered every week. Biden looks…
