Ah, but we accept the risk of motor vehicle because they have a HUGE part in our every day lives. A benign function. A gun, on the other hand, has no benign function and no everyday use. If a gun is put to use, it is to kill or maim.
Terrible analogy, really. I am surprised that it keeps coming up.
Let's try a different analogy.
Fentanyl has a very narrow medical use, for the treatment of acute pain. But we don't allow everyone and anyone to possess, sell, distribute or use Fentanyl. Why? Because it is deadly when used out of it's narrow medical slot. It is regulated, monitored and outlawed. Guns should be, too.
